בית נקופה הוא מושב הממוקם באזור הרי ירושלים בסמוך לאבו גוש, ושייך למועצה אזורית מטה יהודה.

היסטוריה

מקור השם ביישוב נוּקְבְתָא שבבנימין הנזכר בתלמוד וממנו באה משפחת כוהנים שנשאה את אותו שם (גם רבי יהודה הנשיא העיד על עצמו שזה מוצאו). לפי הסברה, השם העתיק השתמר בשם הכפר הערבי ששכן במקום, בית נַקּוּבָּא. מקור השם בנקבָּה ארוכה ועמוקה, חצובה בסלע, בראש ההר (דומה לנוקבתא דְעִיּוֹן – מפל התנור, שבשמורת נחל עיון; הערבים מפרשים את השם מלשון נַקְּבּ, מעבר, משום היותו שוכן במעבר הררי). המושב הוקם בשנת 1949 על ידי שבעה זוגות אשר עלו מיוגוסלביה לאחר מלחמת העולם השנייה. בהמשך הצטרפו אליו עולים ממרוקו. הוא משתייך לתנועת המושבים.

המושב הוקם על חורבות הכפר הערבי בית נקובא, שתושביו עזבו אותו ב-1948, ולא הורשו לחזור אליו לאחר מכן.

ב-1962 הקימו תושבי הכפר המקורי את הכפר עין נקובא על חלק מאדמותיהם, דרומית ליישוב.

למושב הוקצה שטח של כ-1,640-1,680 דונם, ויועד ל-60 משקים. בפועל התיישבו בו 48 משפחות בלבד.
