שמואל הולנדר (נולד ב-6 באפריל 1939) הוא פרופסור אמריטוס לכלכלה בריטי-קנדי-ישראלי העוסק בהיסטוריה של המחשבה הכלכלית.

קורות חיים

הולנדר נולד בלונדון. השלים תואר ראשון בכלכלה בבית הספר לכלכלה של לונדון ב-1959 ודוקטורט באוניברסיטת פרינסטון ב-1963. לאחר מכן היה חבר סגל באוניברסיטת טורונטו בשנים 1963–1998. החל משנת 2000 הוא חבר סגל באוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב.

הולנדר עוסק בהיסטוריה של המחשבה הכלכלית ובמיוחד בכלכלנים הקלאסיים: אדם סמית, דייוויד ריקרדו, תומאס מלתוס וג'ון סטיוארט מיל אשר ניסחו את תאוריית הערך של העבודה. הולנדר רואה את ריקרדו כמבשר הכלכלה הנאו-קלאסית ובכלל זה אלפרד מרשל ולאון ולרה.
