פרגוס מילאר (באנגלית: Fergus Millar; 5 ביולי 1935 – 15 ביולי 2019) היה פרופסור בריטי שהיה מופקד על קתדרת קאמדן להיסטוריה עתיקה באוניברסיטת אוקספורד.
ביוגרפיה
מילאר למד בטריניטי קולג' שבאוניברסיטת אוקספורד לתואר הראשון ובאול סולס קולג' שבאוניברסיטת אוקספורד. באוקספורד הוא למד פילוסופיה והיסטוריה עתיקה וקיבל תואר דוקטור בשנת 1962. הוא עבד ביוניברסיטי קולג' לונדון ובאוניברסיטת אוקספורד, שם כיהן משנת 1984, עד לפרישתו בשנת 2002 כמופקד הקתדרה על שם קאמדן. מילאר שימש כעורכו של כתב העת Journal of Roman Studies בשנים 1979-1975 וכנשיא האגודה הבריטית ללימודים קלאסיים בשנים 1993-1992 והחזיק במספר תפקידים באקדמיה הבריטית, אליה הוא נבחר כחבר בשנת 1976. [1] בשנת 2005 העניקה לו האקדמיה הבריטית את מדליית קניון ללימודים קלאסיים, בכתבה שהוא אחד מההיסטוריונים של העת העתיקה המשפיעים ביותר במאה העשרים. [2]
זכה לתואר דוקטור לשם כבוד מהאוניברסיטה העברית. מילאר התמחה בהיסטוריה של רומא ושל יוון העתיקה. בין תלמידיו היה פרופ' זאב רובין מאוניברסיטת תל אביב.
נפטר ב-15 ביולי 2019.
